Technological University President launches the second major campaign to reconstruct the university’s buildings
The Technological University President, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, launched the second major campaign to rebuild and complete the university’s buildings and its facilities accompanied by the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, and a number of university lecturers and employees.
The President of the University of Technology, Professor Dr. Ahmed Muhammad Hassan Al-Ghabban, said: “We have launched the second part of the reconstruction campaign to rehabilitate and rebuild the university with all its facilities. The truth is that the Civil Engineering Department had an active role in this matter, as well as the Department of Media and Government Communication, the Department of Reconstruction and Projects, the Department of Diwan Affairs, the Department of University Follow-up, and all other facilities. The Presidency of the University, with my personal participation and the participation of the Administrative Assistant, as this is the second phase, which will include finishing what was done in the first phase. It includes the entire University Presidency building from scratch, the University Theater building from scratch, and many approaches, in addition to all the engineering and scientific departments. In this stage, what was accomplished in the first stage will be completed.
Al-Ghabban added, “We will launch additional campaigns, including the Central Library, the Department of Civil Engineering, and the Department of Mechanical Engineering, as well as the university’s courtyards and gardens. We will also remove encroachments that occupied basic spaces, and students will enjoy more freedom of space in the next stage, as well as at the health care level and everything related to the comfort of my lecturers staff, participants, and our dear students, knowing that, recently, After the year 2014, the allocations to the Ministry of Higher Education, especially the university, were very small, and there was no real budget to support these projects. Therefore, we relied mainly on the Higher Education Fund. Thank God, we were able to get the university back on its feet, especially since the university was founded 50 years ago, and everything in it needed reconstruction. Therefore, this campaign will be rehabilitated and will have a large part in the reconstruction of the infrastructure in addition to the superstructure of the university. We promise our dear professors and students that there will be real touches from the reconstruction of the university in the next stage”.
He concluded his speech by thanking the bodies supporting the University of Technology, including the Baghdad Municipality, the various state ministries, the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, the Department of Construction, and the Projects Directorate in the Ministry for providing assistance through consultations, committees, and other details.
For his part, the Assistant President of the University for Administrative Affairs, Professor Dr. Farhad Muhammad Othman, explained, under the patronage of His Excellency the Minister of Higher Education and the guidance of the President of the University, we toured all the corridors of the university to establish a comprehensive campaign in all its facilities , from laboratories, halls, advanced kerosene systems and other facilities, and we have a decreed program to develop and restore the university in a proper manner..
In the same context, the head of the Department of Reconstructions and Projects, Dr. Oday Hamoudi Abdullah, mentioned, under the direct guidance of the university president and the administrative assistant, a reconstruction campaign has begun that includes the university’s facilities and all engineering and scientific departments, including the classrooms, the university theater, and the university presidency building. The work is scheduled to be completed by the start of the next season, 9/1/2024. This year was called the Year of Reconstruction, and this campaign included rehabilitating all aspects of the university in a manner befitting the reputation and status of the University of Technology and its position among universities. He added that the university president’s support is unlimited for the staff of the Department of Reconstruction and Projects and all university cadres in order to create the appropriate academic atmosphere for students through continuous guidance for all stages of completion.
