Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Technology discussed MSc thesis

(Design, Analysis and Implementation of High Gain DC-DC Converter Using Modified Y-Source Network)

The student Ahmed Hussein Mutlaq proposed in his project a high-profit DC transformer using a new resistance source network based on the Y-shaped coupled inductor technology. Note that the proposed DC is capable of producing an increase in voltage up to more than three times the traditional Y source transformer with components reduced switches, low operating ratios, and low stresses on the keys.

And the stabilization circuit is used to recover the leakage power and eliminate the leakage inductance, which reduces the voltage rise on the switches, reduces the power loss, and improves the efficiency of the transformer. Furthermore, the proposed current transformer draws a DC current from the input port less than 5% of the average input current. In addition, the proposed circuit was compared with other circuits in terms of number of components, voltage gain, and stress on all circuit elements, and Mathematica 11.2 program was used to create and verify a comprehensive mathematical model of the proposed DC transformer.

 The simulation results for the proposed circuit were obtained by using the PLECS 4.2.2 simulation program, and the good results were obtained in comparison with other DC transformers in terms of capacity enhancement, voltage pressure and stresses on the switches. Practical results with theoretical results and simulation results.
