Civil Engineering Department at UOT granted MS.C about:

“Selection of Suitable Materials for Sustainable Bio Reactor Landfill"

The thesis of (Abdul Rahman Abdul Salam Salim) included:

the identify of concentrations of all important pollutants in the soil resulting from the municipal solid waste landfill waste and its transfer through the soil, in addition to the effect of the buried leachate on the engineering properties of the soil

Two systems are designed, the first is a lab landfill to improve soil properties, and the second one is to treat the leachate generated from the first system.

Excellent results were obtained from both systems, where the soil was improved using plant fly ash (10 and 15%) and the treatment results in the other system were very good, where the leachate was treated with sedimentation, biological and advanced treatment.
