The Department of Materials Engineering discusses a master's thesis on improving the performance of a double-tube heat exchanger by means of a physical coating

I discussed a master's thesis in the Department of Materials Engineering at the University of Technology tagged

"Enhance the performance of double pipe heat exchanger by physical coating"

The student’s message included that Dhiaa Abbas extends the service life of the heat exchanger by protecting the tubes with paint to reduce the phenomenon of deposits and increase the corrosion resistance of these tubes. Small samples were coated with epoxy and tungsten oxide nanoparticles in different proportions, then all samples were subjected to a number of tests to study their properties before and after coating. Then the heat exchanger experiments of uncoated tube, epoxy coated tube and epoxy coated tube and 1 wt.% tungsten oxide nanoparticles were carried out to study the performance of the heat exchanger.

The results proved that the tube coated with composite paint is the most successful in reducing the problems that the heat exchanger is exposed to during the operation process.

The discussion committee consisted of Dr. Nahed Mahmoud Ali, Chairman and membership of Prof. Dr.Jassim Mohamed Abdel Latif and Prof. Dr. Muhammad Abdul-Hussein Muhammad and the supervision of Prof.Dr. Kazem Matar Shabib and Prof. Dr. Iyad Kazem Hassan

As well as a scientific evaluation of the thesis by a prof.Dr. Ammar Emad Kazem from Babylon University and Prof.Dr. Khaled Ajami Sugar and Linguistically by asst.Dr. Naseer Abdul-Hussein Nasser
